If it seems like we just started 2025 and suddenly it’s half over, you’re not alone. As someone with an early July birthday, the start of the new fiscal year was always much more about me than anything else, but it still snuck up on me this year.
Side note - fireworks on the Fourth are also about my birthday and nothing else. I will not take any arguments about this.
The new month, of course, brings with it a new roundup of Copilot and M365 news. One post I saw right at the end of June from Greg Buckles might interest some of you. Greg noticed that every time he opened a Word document, Copilot would create an auto-summary, and those summaries were being stored alongside all other Copilot interactions.
I’ve noticed that as well. It makes sense, but as Greg points out, it can be quite a surprise to your total collection.
I think this is also a perfect time to consider a retention policy that automatically deletes Copilot interactions after a specified number of days. That data is only going to increase in size every day. There has to be a point where it’s no longer necessary and becomes more of a burden than a benefit.
Do you have a retention policy for Copilot interactions?
