The promise of a Data Sources tab in the new eDiscovery interface has been fulfilled. On Friday, I logged into the new interface to verify that the Classic eDiscovery options for Standard eDiscovery and Content Search had been retired, and I noticed the lovely Data Sources tab in the cases.

By the way, the deadline for the retirement of those Classic interfaces has come and gone. They are no longer an option for eDiscovery moving forward. If you’ve not done testing of your current workflows as an e3 licensee, I highly suggest you get in there and test the new interface now! I am working on a testing plan similar to the one I use that you can follow, and I will likely make it available to subscribers soon.

The discovery of the tab prompted me to reconsider my plans to make this my week off and write a brief description of this new feature. Consider this a bonus issue.

The TLDR version - It’s similar to what we’ve had previously, but not exactly. If you’ve been a Premium eDiscovery user, this will seem easy, but it doesn’t have all of the same functionality, not to mention the fact that you will not see any references to “Custodians” in the new interface, as we’ve discussed previously.
